On December 22nd, 2015 my world changed forever.As I walked out of my final college exam, the rapidly approaching ‘real world’ hit me like a freight train.Gulp.“Time to find a job”, I thought. But how? Where? Doing what?Ready or not, my career had just begun.Growing up, I wrestled with the idea of who I wanted to become and what I would eventually do for a living.Right or wrong, I decided to focus on school and sports with a blind trust that my career would eventually take care of itself.Well, now that ‘eventually’ had arrived, I still had no clue what I wanted to do.All I knew was that I would not spend my life:
• working a job I hated
• earning less than I deserved
• utilizing less than my full potentialMy first job out of college started in February 2016 in the Corporate Finance industry.I very quickly realized the growth opportunities were too slow and the ceiling too low for my ambitions.It was around this time that someone recommended a book that changed my life called Rich Dad, Poor Dad.My belief system and paradigm was shattered, and a new way of thinking was unlocked.I began to ferociously read books and consume podcasts about my newly discovered passion: Real Estate.In 8 short months, I passed my Real Estate exam, read dozens of self-improvement and Real Estate books, and listened to countless podcasts.Around that same time I was offered a promotion.Doubt started to creep in.“Did I really want to make the jump into the unknown?”“Maybe I should just stay here with my new promotion?”Shockingly, I politely declined the promotion and put in my 2 weeks’ notice to leave.You should have seen my boss’ face!I refused to settle for less than my best.It was time to take control of my future, for better or for worse.
In just 2 weeks, I went from a stable corporate paycheck to 100% commission.Gulp (again).As it turns out, my biggest problem was also my greatest superpower:I didn’t know what I didn’t know.Honestly, if I had known how the next six years of my career would unfold then I might have just stuck to my corporate job.I knew where I wanted to go, and I had a strategy for getting there, but I had a lot to learn.My ignorance kept me curious, but it also kept me in the dark.It’s hard to design a fulfilling career path without a compass.After less than a year in the 100% commission Real Estate brokerage job, I was recruited to join an exciting Real Estate tech startup.Hello, stable paycheck and startup life.But my problem remained: I didn’t know what I didn’t know.Would I ever figure out how to make my dreams become my reality?I believed that the answer would eventually be yes, but I had no idea when, where, or how.I did know one thing: Failure was not an option.So I kept going, growing, and learning along the way.Then, in early 2018, I met a multi-billionaire and my belief system was broken once again.In one moment, I had an epiphany:My career compass was pointed in the wrong direction.• I was in the wrong company
• I was working in the wrong job
• I was utilizing less than my full potentialHave you ever had a life-changing epiphany like this?It’s both empowering and terrifying.I finally realized what I had been missing.
My next move was... well, crazy.I left the Real Estate industry and got into IT Staffing sales.Why?I knew that I needed outside B2B sales skills, a new challenge, and exposure to a new industry.My conviction was that one of two things would happen:1. I'd realize that the Real Estate industry had been holding me back, or,2. I'd gain new skills in a new industry that I could transfer back into the Real Estate industry one day.Over the next 18-months I met with 400+ strangers and learned the art and science of how to go from stranger to friend in less than 30 minutes.I began to notice patterns that are now part of my system for Building Rapid Rapport.I learned how to take control of conversations while still giving the other person the illusion of control.I discovered how to quickly find common ground with anyone about anything.This season is when my vision for The Career Compass was birthed.
What if I could bundle these observable patterns to so that other people could learn them too?Could I take these skills and package them to help others redirect or reignite their careers?I can proudly say that I have my dream job thanks to the countless lessons learned inside of The Career Compass.But getting here wasn’t easy.It took 14,000+ hours of work, thousands of cold conversations, hundreds of patterns recognized, dozens of mentors, and 7 different jobs over an 8 year period.This reality led me to one simple thought:Nobody should have to go through what I went through to find their dream job.Around this time my friend Jackson was hunting for his next job and we struck up a conversation about his job search and interviews.Over the next month I coached him 1:1. Affiliate Policy
LAST UPDATED: SEPTEMBER 20, 2024This Agreement
This Affiliate Agreement (“Agreement”) is made and entered into by and between Trey Wheeler, with a place of business located at 414 31st Street, Newport Beach, CA 92663 (“Company”), and all affiliates of any products, (“Affiliate”). Both Company and Affiliate are referred to collectively herein as the “Parties” and individually as a “Party.”Purpose
The purpose of this Agreement is to establish the terms and conditions under which Affiliate may market, promote, and sell products or services on behalf of Company and earn commissions on those sales.Commissions
Rate: Affiliate will earn a commission equal to 20% of the total purchase price for The Career Compass. Sales must come through via Affiliate's unique referral link.
Payment Schedule: Commissions will be paid to the Affiliate regularly for sales made in the preceding month.
Payment Method: Commissions will be paid via PayPal.
Restrictions
Paid Advertisements: Affiliate is expressly prohibited from using any form of paid advertisements to promote their unique referral link. Violation of this term may result in immediate termination of this Agreement and forfeiture of any earned commissions.
Term and Termination
Term: This Agreement will begin on the Effective Date and will continue until terminated by either Party.
Termination: Either Party may terminate this Agreement at any time, with or without cause, by providing written notice to the other Party.
Miscellaneous
Governing Law: This Agreement will be governed by the laws of the State of California.
Entire Agreement: This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding and agreement between the Parties and supersedes all prior and contemporaneous agreements, whether oral or written, between the Parties relating to the subject matter of this Agreement.
Return Policy
